UNFOLD 2023

My work is informed by stories of cloth that have shaped my identity, from a heritage of wool weavers, seamstresses and quilters as well as a nomadic life of traveling. My earliest memories of color and textures are of red hibiscus flowers in Okinawa, Japan. In Saudi Arabia, not only was I influenced by geometric abstraction in Islamic art but also having to wear a black abaya and scarf as I was traversing from adolescence into womanhood.
