Creativity, Encaustics, Love & Finding Calm in the Chaos
There’s something about the start of a new year that can feel like a whirlwind—so many expectations, resolutions, and plans. But art reminds us to breathe, to be present, and to create with intention rather than urgency.
I was reminded of this at my recent encaustic art opening. The energy in the room was electric—conversations about process, materials, and stories woven into the work filled the space. In moments like these, I see how art connects us beyond words, beyond the chaos of daily life. I am so grateful for everyone who attended, and for those who continue to follow my journey from near and far.
As February unfolds, I’m reflecting on love—not just romantic love, but the love we cultivate through art, through intention, through moments of stillness in overwhelming times. Whether it's in the way we prepare a panel, mix pigments, or take a quiet walk, there’s something powerful in the act of slowing down and creating from a place of presence.

A Simple 5-Minute Creative Meditation
If you're feeling overwhelmed, here’s a simple practice to help you reset:
Find a quiet space – Sit comfortably with a sketchbook, a piece of paper, or even just your hands resting in your lap.
Close your eyes & take three deep breaths – Inhale deeply, hold for a moment, then exhale slowly. Let go of any tension.
Set an intention – It can be as simple as “I allow myself to be present” or “I trust my creative flow.”
Move intuitively – If you have a sketchbook, let your hand move freely—doodle, make marks, or just scribble without judgment. If you have no materials, visualize a color washing over you, bringing calm.
Pause & observe – Open your eyes, look at what you’ve created, or simply notice how you feel. Carry this sense of ease with you into the rest of your day.
Creativity isn’t just about making art—it’s about how we move through the world. I hope this practice, and my upcoming demo, offer you a moment of stillness and inspiration.
With love & gratitude,
